Agricultural Development Office

Rukum (west) district, is a part of Karnali Province, consists of 3 Municipalities, 3 Rural Municipalities and 73  wards with coverage of 1200 square kilometer area.  Rukum (west) district has different range of altitude from 690 msl (Chourjahari-2, Khokri) to 5850 msl (Chitrepatan) with diversified climate from subtropical to temperate which reinforce the production of variety of commodities. The superior variety selection with climate suitability for their optimal production, and innovation and extension of geographically adaptive technology is the pivotal requirement for transformation of agriculture sectors in Rukum (west). With keeping these all fact mandatory and from decision of Government of Federal Nepal, Agricultural Knowledge Center, Rukum (West) was established in the date of 17^th July, 2018 AD under the Karnali Provincial Government. According to the decision of Karnali Provincial Government, Council of Ministers dated on 23rd August, 2019 AD, the name of the office has been changed as Agricultural Development Office, Rukum (West).

Today, the prime responsibilities we have are delivering those services of agricultural measures as which was rendered by District Agricultural Development office Rukum focused on survey and surveillance of insect pests and diseases and their management, laboratory diagnosis services, seed, Pesticide and fertilizer inspection, regulating agro-vets etc.  As per the Government of Karnali province pledged on creating foundation of organic state, we have nurtured organic agriculture through IPM, OPM, augmented compost quality, and IPNS. This Office also bolstering all manoeuvers that links marketing, value addition, food security, agro-eco-tourism, and Commodities quality control systems.
